One More Time

Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus.    He called out to them,  “Friends, haven’t you any fish?” “No,” they answered.    He said,  “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.”  When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish. (John 21:4-6 NIV)

There are a few things to note in these scriptures, but I will write about one in particular. The power of obedience. To be in a place where you feel like nothing’s happening, and even those who walk with you are getting frustrated due to lack of results, can be taxing. Sometimes you’re even asking yourself, “How long will I be in this place?”   Feeling stuck, powerless, and unmotivated, finding strength can be hard when someone comes along, and tells you to try it one…more…time.

I’m sure when the disciples answered, “No”, they had come to terms with the fact that it was almost time to go back home. They wasted enough time trying to be successful with this tedious task. Then, God speaks one sentence that changes everything. He challenges them to pick up the heavy net that they had cast into the water countless times, only to return with nothing, one…more…time. The funny thing is, they do it. They don’t ask why, they don’t get into the logistics, they don’t say anything to explain that they’ve already repeatedly tried, they just do it.  That’s when breakthrough happens. It happens not just on an average scale of mediocrity, but it happens “exceeding, abundantly, above all [they] could ask or think…” The net couldn’t contain the blessing. And guess what else…there were a “large number of fish. Continue reading One More Time

by Virginia Terhune Staff writer

‘Camp Fit’
When: Debuts 2 p.m. Saturday
Where: Channel 378, DirecTV, or streamed at
For information:

Bowie filmmaker Ron Williams says he doesn’t typically watch reality TV shows.

But when Rob Howze, also of Bowie, approached him about shooting, in episode form, a finess program he had developed for youth, Williams found himself saying yes.

“I came down to watch him training some kids, and the ideas started to flow,” says Williams, founder and owner of R.A.W. Cinema, who also produces and directs the series.

Working together with five young participants, the duo has produced a six-part, weekly half-hour show called “Camp Fit” that will premier at 2 p.m. Saturday on Channel 378 on DirecTV.

The show is part of the programming offered by the National Religious Broadcasters Network.

Those who do not subscribe to DirecTV can watch the show streamed online on the NRB web site at

Like the reality show “Survivor,” one of the participants wins a prize in this case, $1,000 but not for outmaneuvering the other participants. Continue reading Camp Fit goes national

New Year’s Resolutions…Or Not…

Happy New Year!

It has been an amazing year for some of us and a challenging one for others; yet and still we all have something to be grateful for.  As we begin preparing for the festivities that bring in the New Year, there are efforts and thought-provoking themes created to “wow” us and make us feel that THIS will be our best year ever! Although these ideas are great, and no doubt inspire us for the first couple of months, I come with a different take on it. You see, great tag lines and phrases have been awesome to recite, but the real is, before we begin asking God for new stuff and fresh ideas, we must ask ourselves what we’ve done with what He’s already given us. Stewardship doesn’t just entail money; it encompasses your marriage, your children, your singleness, your ministry, your job, your business, your spiritual life, your time, your vision, your health and everything else God has entrusted you with.  Stewardship is in the details of faithfulness.  Can you really ask God for a new job paying more money or a promotion when you’re not on time to your current one?  Are we seriously going to ask God for more to come with the New Year when we’ve mishandled what we already have in the current one?

God is not interested in how much we can handle, He’s interested in how we handle the much.  New ventures come with new responsibility. Chances are, if you’ve dodged previous responsibility and been lazy in following up, pursuing something new should not be an option.  I don’t want to sound like a dream killer, but honestly, if we all just do what we’ve already been given, the possibilities are endless!

Excellence in Christian Music Academy

The Excellence in Christian Music Academy (ECMA) has been created to equip Christian/Gospel music artists with the tools necessary to be successful in the music industry.

Each year independent Christian/Gospel artists participate in numerous award shows and programs with the hopes of winning coveted prizes and achieving industry recognition.

Though this process represents the industry standard for artist recognition, the Excellence in Christian Music Academy will encourage growth and expansion of the artists, their careers and forward progression in the Christian/Gospel music industry.

Christian Music Industry Participants will be offered the opportunity to participate in an awards process based on an objective and unbiased point system designed to identify ECMA recipients for final recognition in the ECMA national awards program.

The ECMA project represents a new era in the training, education, and development of Christian/Gospel music artists.

ECMA is shaping the future of the next generation of artists in the Christian/Gospel music industry.
